I have been a BAA member for nearly 40 years. At about age 7 I got to read 'The Larousse Encyclopaedia of Astronomy' and became fascinated by the huge numbers involved. Since then my hobby has had to cope with all the usual life events, such as getting qualifications, getting a job, getting married, begetting children, etc. It's only really when I managed to get slightly early retirement from teaching that I had the time to concentrate more fully on my hobby. I could go on to regale you with all the things I now do but amongst these I am Joint Archivist of the BAA. I also write the 'From the Journals' and the ‘From the Archives‘ pieces in the Journal where I highlight things of interest from issues of the Journal since its introduction in 1890, and showcase things from the BAA’s Archives
