I have been interested in astronomy since I was given a 1-inch draw-tube telescope for my 11th Birthday. I still have it. My latest acquisitions are a MyT mount and 8-inch Ritchey Chretien carbon fibre tube OTA. I now have a run off roof observatory at my place in Spain and can control the roof and telescope from inside the house. When in the UK I use the 'itelescope' remote telescopes in New Mexico, New South Wales, California, Spain and Chile and aim to use my Skywatcher Star Adventurer portable mount with my newly acquired Redcat 51 Petzval refractor. I published a book ”Imaging the Messier Objects remotely using your Laptop” and another “The Astronomy Observer’s Handbook” on Amazon with a Kindle version option. My website and blog are at amateurnightsky.net. I spent the last three years as Co-Editor of the Bulletin of the Society for the History of Astronomy but have given this up to concentrate on observing, writing and researching astronomical history.
