I agree with Nick James comment. I belong to Hampshire Astronomical Group and we have 3 meteor cams at our Clanfield Observatory site (https://hantsastro.org.uk/). The Crayford team gave a great talk at BAA Winchester yesterday all about how they set up a camera and involved a lot of their members.

I would second Roger’s comments that include Astrobiology as Exoplanet discovery may lead to the signatures of life. As such, these two DO belong together, but Astrobiology can’t really fit with Variable Stars, so let’s leave the VSS as a separate option.

I’m sure that all meteor station folk in the UKMON & Nemetode networks wish Dr Bill all of our congratulations!! Where can we see the paper?

The new lights turned our patio from a dark area into one where shadows are cast !! New lights are downlighters but the post is much taller so it now casts its light over the dividing hedges 🙁

There is an offer of baffles but when I requested them, they fitted them behind the light, darkening a neighbour’s garden and when I requested a side baffle I got the reply “Sorry , missus, not under the contract!”

Saying that, the local village light pollution is less at the group observatory……..
