Winners of the BAA Christmas Quiz

Thank you to all who had a go at the Journal’s Christmas Quiz, the answers for which were in the February issue [132(1), pp.10–16]. The high standard of submissions made determining just one winning entry a challenging task.

After calculating the scores, Quizmaster Marie-Louise Archer awarded joint first place to three individuals: Steve Bosley, Graham Jackson and Shaun Taylor. They each receive the first prize of Celestron Skymaster 15×70 binoculars, donated by First Light Optics (FLO). Special thanks go to FLO for their great generosity in providing prizes to all three worthy winners. No second-place prize is awarded this year.

The third-place prize of an invitation to the Herschel Museum of Astronomy, Bath is awarded to Rita Whiting. In joint fourth place, Clive Butcher and Daryl Dobbs each receive a copy of Stargazers’ Almanac 2022 by Bob Mizon. Thank you to Floris Books for donating these. The highly commended entries are by Nigel Crabb, Bob Evans, Mark Green, Thomas Morris, Trevor Pitt and John Thorpe.

Many congratulations to all. Finally, a sincere debt of thanks is due to Marie-Louise Archer, who orchestrated the quiz, was its primary author, and undertook the immense task of reviewing the submissions.
