A keen amateur astronomer since childhood, Bill Leatherbarrow first joined the BAA in 1965. During the 1960s and 1970s he served on the Lunar Section Committee and as Secretary of the Mercury and Venus Section. He became Lunar Section Director in 2009 and was BAA President from 2011 to 2013. He observes from Sheffield, using a 12-inch Maksutov-Cassegrain.
