About this image

I have been trying for some years to capture the Seeliger effect on Saturn's rings at opposition but the weather has had the last laugh in recent years.    This time the sky was clear but unfortunately Saturn was the proverbial jelly on a plate.  Eventually almost at the excact moment of opposition it calmed enough for me to take a sequence of images in IR, Red, Green and Blue, although the blue image was particularly difficult to capture due to the wobbly atmosphere.  The next night at the same time seeing was a little calmer although still not that good and I took the same sequence again to compare the brightness in the rings between the two nights.   The B ring change is reasonably obvious but the A ring also brightened a little on close inspection.
