About this image

This was the best image of Mars I have managed so far this time round.  I waited until it was around 30 degrees above the horizon, giving it a chance to clear the lower atmosphere.   I've included the Winjupos predicted image for the same time for comparison.   I took several sequences, both these images are from the same IR pass, red, green blue filter sequence, but on the left I have used the red channel as luminance and red, in the centre I've used the IR pass at 642nm as luminance and red.   For some reason I picked up an area around the polar cap that comes out as blueish in my images and I wonder if this is an effect of the bit of the polar cap that has melted since I last imaged this target.
