Title

Jupiter in twilight 21/9/2020

About this image

From my observatory Jupiter is now disappearing behind an obstruction when we are still in civil twilight.    The early evening of 21 September was steadier than usual for planetary work and I was able to capture a reasonable image of Jupiter despite the sky glow and low altitude.   This is 20minutes of Jupiter derotated to 18:26.  It was a risk derotating that long on Jupiter but ensured I included the two best images of the sequence in the same derotation.

I was pleased to see that despite the obstacles I have been able to pick out some well known features apart from the Great Red Spot, including the large white oval below the spot and the three dark storm areas just above the Northern Equatorial Band.
