Lyrid meteors - 2021 April 22/23

About this image

The Lyrid meteors are a welcome sight after the low levels of activity since the Quadrantids in January, even though they usually only produce a ZHR of ~15 around April 21/22.

This year's maximum was likely to occur during the morning daylight hours of April 22, so the nights of 21/22 and 22/23 would be the most productive.

I captured a number of Lyrids on my RMS (Raspberry Pi Meteor Station) cameras and UFO Capture cameras. This image is a stack of 27 meteors, 16 Lyrids, from the night of April 22/23, recorded by my RMS camera UK000U. The 3 wavy lines were caused by birdies flying across the field of view.
