Solar prominence - Centre western limb

About this image

A short time-lapse GIF of a prominence present at the centre of the edge of the western limb of the Sun on 30 May 2021 between 08:44 and 09:18 UT

Short videos of 1,000 frames each were acquired in SharpCap Pro every 60 seconds. A total of 34 videos were captured and then processed in AutoStakkert3 where a TIF file was generated comprising 25% of the best 1,000 images.

The first TIF file was uploaded into PixInsight and cropped then sharpened using the RestorationFilter process. The ‘history’ of these two processes was then transferred to the PixInsight Process Container and the 34 TIF files were then uploaded into the PixInsight Image Container. The Process Container was then applied to the Image Container and the crop and sharpening was automatically applied to all the TIF files. So much easier than processing each individual file.

The TIF files were then aligned in ImPPG then returned to PixInsight where the files were rotated 90 degrees anti-clockwise and colour added using Process/Image Container method above.

Finally all 34 files were uploaded to PIPP to generate a GIF.
