About this image

11 million years ago a star exploded in a galaxy far, far away. Its light finally reached Earth on Nov 1st 2021 and is now recorded as AT2021aczn. It can be seen as a mag 14 star near the centre of the galaxy.

Hi David,

Nice image but not a supernova. It is always there (likely a foreground star). Not visible in saturated images eg DSS, but you can see it here in the PanSTARRS reference image here though
