About this image

This bright event was brought to my attention by Nick James (Chelmsford). This beastie evaded my other RMS and UFO Capture cameras but nicely framed itself in the field of my SW-facing camera UK000U. The strange 'trilobite' to its lower right was caused by overnight snow/rain on the lens. The 'spectrum' to the far left is the internal reflection of the fireball.

The recording matches this event on the IMO's Fireballs Database

Because of its brightness, RMS didn't process it as a standard meteor, it was recorded by its fireball detector and no magnitude estimate is given. Full analysis requires manual processing in SkyFit software.
