About this image

I spent a great evening observing the stars from a dark site on the North York Moors. The Milky Way was a splendid sight, as were the Winter constellations. I took this picture of Mars shining brightly in Taurus and was really pleased with how it came out. The colour or Mars is striking and can be compared with nearby Aldebaran. This shot is a stack of 13x 30s exposures at 24mm fl, f/2.8, ISO 1600 using my Canon 600D on a Star Adventurer tracking mount. I used DeepSkyStacker, FastStone Image Viewer and Photoshop Elements for processing.
