About this image
There is a story behind this image. I have been disappointed with how litle Oiii light I was getting with my previous 6nm filter. In researching 3/4nm filters I discovered that for fast scope (<F4) you need specially optimised (pre-shifted by ~1nm) filters. So I acquired a Baader 4nm filter for F3 scopes. In order to test this out I went in search of a faint target. This being the infamous giant Squid nebula (OU4) only discovered by an amateur astronomer in 2011.
It turns out you need as much Oiii data as possible (10 hours with 60 second subs in my case). I deliberatelly took less data (1 hour with 60 second subs) with Halpha in order to emphasise the squid over the bat!
