About this image

Images were taken 1hr 30min before Bienor occulted 1B 1332-191103 (Bienor is indicated with white marker lines on the negative image inset, and "1B"  is the nearest star to lower right.). Bienor is a Centeur of diameter 188Km and orbits near Uranus.  This star is magnitude 16.4, and Bienor m19.

The image is a stack of 58 x 30s exposures, and in that time Bienor moved 4.5 arcsec. The motion can just be seen on the image which has a plate scale of 0.75 arcsec/pix

I didn,t record the occultation because of thick fog (it clouded over a bit), but at least two observers did succeed - one in the UK and one in Europe. Congrats to them.  The occultation prediction was provided by the ERC Lucky-Star project.

The star image was measured at RA 05 54 29.1 +43 13 29.5 (J2000). It was an unusual opportunity for the UK. An exposure of 2-3 sec/frame was needed to video the star over a 2 min period.
