The much touted and delayed CME arrived last night just after midnight. The Aurorawatch managed 300nT but a period earlier in the night gave better views. 

The aurora was dim - slightly fainter than the Milky Way - and hence barely visible to the naked eye and definitely grey. It seemed to fade over the following hour though passing fog patches made it hard to be certain and threatened to dew up the Samyang lens.

Any aurora observation from 51N, 2W is fine by me...

 

Not what I hoped but still nice to see again.
