About this image

The mag. 15 asteroid (3714) Kenrussell, 11 km in diameter, was predicted to occult a mag. 12 star in Cetus for up to 1.1 seconds. I was inside the predicted shadow path and recorded a dip of 1.0 seconds' duration. My location is quite light polluted anyway and that evening the transparency was getting worse. The cause was the onset of the aurora...

The occultation timings are:

   D: 19 33 58.74 ± 0.10
