About this image
Oct 22/23 brought a clearer sky near the end of Orionid maximum. Not a large number of Orionids on display this week, each camera captured no more than 20 of them per night, although several minor showers were also active.
This stack from my west-facing camera (UK0090) shows 16 Orionids, 5 epsilon Geminids, 5 Leonis Minorids, 4 Southern Taurids and 18 sporadics. A highlight was the mag -3 sporadic meteor which shot down through And at 03:47:48 UT, passing over M31.
The ‘stringy’ arcs curving across the field was a skein of geese just after 22:00 UT, flying from NW to S (R to L). I heard them honking and saw them brightly illuminated by Leeds' excessive light pollution. It looks like one member took a different path then re-joined the group. It was much nicer to see them rather than the recent trains of Starlink satellites climbing towards Cygnus and Aquila.
