About this image

The inset at bottom left is a magnified view of the nebula and the black square highlights the shadow on the western side of the nebula that I noted in my previous post. I added a correction note to that post to say that the shadow was not new, a very similar one had been seen on ZTF images over an approx. 2 month period from October 2023. I've now checked the ZTF image archive back to October 2018 and not seen any other occurrences of this shadow. OK the archive doesn't provide complete coverage but images are taken often enough to stand a good chance of spotting a shadow that last 2 months. The current appearance of this shadow has lasted nearly 6 months so far. Will it last or will it go away again?
