About this image

This widefield colour image was taken at the same time as the narrow field animation here. The ion tail is pretty bright now considering how bright the sky was this morning. I get a total magnitude of 6.0 using comphot. The comet will  be 2-3 mags brighter at its peak later this month and there will be no Moon so it should be a pretty spectacular imaging target.

It is moving very fast against the star background now so it is important to keep exposures short to avoid trailing, and to avoid saturating the inner coma.
