Report no.1

As the new apparition of Jupiter starts, here is a map showing the major features as of 2025 August 16-19.  There are no major changes since last apparition.

The revived NTB(S) is reddish as usual, but mostly rather faint.  There are three brown spots on its S edge which are important to track.

The NEB is still broad, though it is beginning to recede again; it contains a typical array of ‘barges’ (cyclonic brown ovals) and ‘portholes’ (anticyclonic white ovals).

There is still a prominent brownish-grey Equatorial Band, mixed with dark bluish-grey festoons from the NEBs.

The South Equatorial Disturbance (SED) is still distinctive. The GRS is red, with a dark grey collar, and oval BA is pale orange.

The STB is more extensive than it has been for decades, being now a prominent dark belt around most of the planet.
