JunoCam at PJ71
PJ71 occurred on 2025 April 4. Much data was lost, because Juno went into safe mode twice, about an hour before and 45 minutes after perijove: that is, it rebooted its computer and switched off all nonessential functions. Both anomalies occurred as the spacecraft flew through the most intense radiation belts. Since arriving at Jupiter in July 2016, Juno has only gone into safe mode twice before, at PJ2 and PJ47. Then, and again now, the NASA team successfully brought the spaceraft back to full operations; investigations are under way. Unfortunately, these events led to loss of all the JunoCam images except for some lo-res outbound ones, so we are not posting a separate report.
