Uranus 2025 Apparition Notes

Return to the Saturn, Uranus and Neptune Section home page

During this apparition, observations were made by Max Fairfax on November 19; Oliver Hext on November 14, Kevin Kell on March 9 and 10; Gordon Macleod on November 19 and 25; Paul Mettam on March 18. Luigi Morrone on September 5, November 19, December 10 and February 25;; Randy Tatum on August 10, 16, 23, 24, September 22 and and October 5; Peter Tickner on 15 August 22 and August and 16 September; Anthony Wesley and Pat Miles on February 8 and 9; Callum Wingrove on October 12.

The highest resolution observations made during this apparition particularly in IR showed the bright hood over the north polar regions.

The five brightest satellites were sometimes recorded and Max and Gordon recorded Titania and Oberon with Seestar S50 smart telescopes.

The planet lay to the south of the Pleiades as shown in Olivers colour image.

However the most remarkable observation was made by Anthony and Pat using Pat’s large Newtonian. Here they were able to record a ring which matched the predicted position of the planet’s brightest ring (see below).
