Examples of some of the brighter galaxies from Halton Arp’s “Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies” that Cherryvalley Observatory could image within its capabilities using an 8-inch SCT.

That’s an interesting project, Mike. And nice images. Hope you will continue to extend the gallery.

    Go well!

Very nice Mike.  Our own Arp program is continuing and during our last visit to the observatory we managed to put together a montage of six of the fainter Arps using our 12.5 inch Planewave.  The image is here http://www.paulandliz.org/Galaxies/ARP/Arp_Montage_191114.jpg

We were surprised to discover, when we changed the C14 for a 12.5″ scope, how much light gathering capability we had lost for the very faintest Arps.  What you are doing with 8 inches is commendable.

Thanks Jeremy, yes a very interesting project indeed in not only learning how to image such objects but also learning more about Dr. Halton Arp’s life and work.
Cherryvalley Observatory hopes to continue imaging Arp objects across the coming seasons, just need those clear skies!

Thanks Paul and Liz, you guys are doing amazing work. I have just ordered “The Arp Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies A Chronicle and Observer’s Guide” to get a grounding in understanding and imaging the Arp objects.

    Best wishes
    Mike
