I’m sitting here typing in this and looking outside and watching a heavy thundery shower. Before the rain, at 12:29, the sky was clear. And I was able to capture this image of the active Sun in Ha using the following equipment.
DayStar Quark-Chromosphere
William Optics Z61 F5.9 Florite Doublet
ZWO ASI 174mm
Sky-Watcher
Solar-Quest
The effective focal length of the Quark and Z61 is F26.55 at 1640mm. I have taken the trouble to label to active regions in this image. And I have also tried to keep the Sun looking as natural as possible. I’m on holiday this week and hopefully I can image the Sun and observe the changes going on in the Chromosphere and along the limb.
With the addition of my new Solar-Quest with Heliosense. Imaging the Sun is remarkably easy. And fun.
