I’m 71 now but in good nick (comparatively!). Able and willing….
Biggest issue impediment is that I live in Cambridgeshire…
I would be happy to come up to Newcastle for, say, a couple of days and do what I can. Just need to sort out some dates, I guess.
As I say, I’m in contact with a couple of ex-Newcastle guys – at least one of them may have been a user of the telescope (we shared Hugh Battey as a PhD supervisor) and another was a frequent visitor to Ken (Keith?) Runcorn’s so-called ‘field-free building’ (for geomagnetic measurements) which I believe was on-site with the observatory.- I’ll send this link around and see what happens.
I would absolutely love to see that visitor’s book!
