FY UMa is one of the underobserved SR/L stars in the BAAVSS pulsating stars programme. I added this to my SR/L list some time ago but hit the problem that the reference stars in the AAVSO chart are at some distance from FY and well outside my telescopic viewing circle. I have therefore been exploring ways around this and have come up with my own chart (attached) based on data from Hipparcos and APASS that appear to adequately match my photometry. On my observations so far, FY has varied by about 0.5 magnitude or so either side of 10.0V so is probably more suited to photometric than visual observations. There appears to be a small but regular fluctuation of 0.2 to 0.4 mag with a period of around 2 to 3 months. Any comments on the tentative chart welcome.
