The supernova sn2017eaw peaked at Vmag 12.8 this time last year but has now faded to mag 18. It is still detectable using my modified ALPY 200 spectrograph though. It is the faintest object I have recorded spectroscopically to date (the faintest ever by an amateur ?) and shows some nice forbidden emission lines now it is in the nebular phase.

The spectrum still shows a good match to type IIP sn2004et which exploded in the same galaxy, ngc6946

    Cheers

Gosh, was it as long ago as that Robin?

Good to see you are still following it even though it’s so faint.

Robin you are an example to us all – well done on your magnitude record

    Well done Robin.  Amazing!

It’s worth mentioning that Martin Mobberley has been monitoring it since day 1, and is still sending me V-band measures.
