Hi all,
I have been contacted by Garith Yang, a student at University College London who is seeking volunteers for an anthropological study into the effects of satellite and aeroplane trails on astrophotography. See below:
The project explores how long-exposure astrophotography makes airplanes and satellites visible as light trails, and how photographers respond to their presence. I am particularly interested in understanding how these objects shape photographers’ perception of the night sky as a visual landscape.
To begin, I am inviting interested participants to complete a short preliminary questionnaire. This initial form helps me understand participants’ background and allows you to indicate your preferred format for further participation — whether via video call, written responses, or in-person conversation (if applicable).
If you are open to participating, you may complete the questionnaire here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfjY4RdJVvDQ-e0hm3TrqwwOH6VWZ48KjjxQAR2DGOYiVYPNg/viewform?usp=publish-editor
I will follow up to arrange interviews with those who wish to continue.
Thank you very much for considering this invitation. I would truly value your insight.
