After picking up the 'Observer's Book of Astronomy' by Sir Patrick Moore at the age of ten, I became instantly hooked on astronomy. This interest was further nurtured by the encouragement of the BAA, to which I had the good fortune of being elected in 2006. My observatory in North Yorkshire houses ‘Tubby’ – my faithful Celestron C8 telescope – with which I observe the Moon and planets, regularly recording their features in pencil and ink. I am Editor of the Journal of the BAA and a Council member. I enjoy speaking and writing about astronomy, while also being an active member of the York Astronomical Society.
