Does anyone know the status of JPL at the moment?

I’ve not heard anything on the news but it looks like its within the footprint of one of the LA fires (Eaton?) and JPL Horizons is currently non-responsive.

UCLA is only 5-6km from the edge of the Palisades fire.

Thats worryingly close…

It’s very close to Mt. Wilson Obsy as well. Hopefully it won’t be another Mt. Stromlo. The damage caused by the various fires in very familiar places around LA is immense.

This was Mount Wilson a few minutes ago. I think that is the Hooker dome and the Solar Tower to the left.

The closest edge of the fire perimeter is currently 500m from JPL. But wind speeds have decreased and wind is not blowing towards JPL anymore.

Hell. As I recall theres a lot of trees round the scopes there.

Yes, if you’ve every been there the big public car park is close to all of the TV antennas on the right of that shot. It is then a fairly short walk to the 100-inch dome.
