A transient in Aql was reported at mag 9 on Apr 21 in data from the Palomar Gattini-IR survey.
It has subsequently been confirmed spectroscopically as a classical nova. Soria et al note: “Overall, the spectrum is consistent with a young classical nova outburst, which peaked at J = 9.1 mag around April 22-23 and has now started to decline, based on the most recent Palomar Gattini-IR data. We encourage further spectroscopic follow-up for this young and rapidly evolving nova”.
The nova is located at RA 19:07:58.65, Dec +08:43:45.3 (J2000.0)
