The latest Astronomer’s Telegram gives detail of a nova in Sagittarius, ATel#17995. This really is too low for me so looking forward to seeing photometry and spectroscopy from other BAA members…

I have two measures using Slooh so far…

Aug 19.9201 UT 8.453V
Aug 20.9201 UT 8.887V

That part of the sky is simply white from North Birmingham, so no chance for me to see it visually, even at this bright magnitude.

Not BAA members (AFAIK) but the 2SPOT team have posted (parts of) an echelle spectrum taken from Chile here

A spectrum from last night. Just managed to get 15 min exposure at culmination (12 deg elevation) in twilight. Impressively broad lines. H alpha FWHM ~3300 km/s
