Whilst on holiday in Scotland around the time of Skylab (1973), I observed a Solar flare (from Drumnadrochit).
I observed the event through thin cloud and the Sun was low, about 3 hours before setting. [Obviously, I should not have been looking due to possible damage to ones eyes].
The event lasted about say, 40 seconds.
Has Anyone else witnessed a Solar flare in daylight?
Part 2: At the time of my Observation, I was puzzled
how the flare was nearly twice as large as the Sun’s diameter. In actual fact, what I observed was a CME and because it was closer to the Earth it appeared larger than the Sun.
Although Astronomers use Filters and Projection methods to observe daily Solar events; as Anyone actually seen these events, by chance with their Eyesight although definitely not recommended?
