Ocean Optics SD1000 spectrometer.

A few Ocean Optics SD1000 spectrometers have recently become available. They work in the UVOIR region and are fed through a fibre-optic cable. The wavelength range, resolution and sensitivity are, of course, dependent on the slit width and so forth.

Does anyone have any experience of these devices and whether they may be of use in an astronomical setting. Note that the setting may include solar observation.
