Orion SkyQuest 14″ Dobsonian giveaway

Hi all,

We have an Orion SkyQuest 14g GoTo Truss Dobsonian to give away in ‘as is’ disassembled condition. The telescope spent a few years outdoors, covered up with a waterproof for-dobsonian canvas tarpaulin, but it was not completely air sealed at the bottom. This resulted in some rusting of parts of the scope (but manageable) and, after disassembly, stripping of the connection between at least one side panel and its bolt-connection to the base (see photos).

The electronics should be in good shape, and optics also, subject to a gentle cleaning. To work again it will need some TLC and some drilling/repair to reattach parts of the mount (at least one side board) to the base. If you’re up for the TLC challenge, the telescope can be restored and work again in short order. Currently in disassembled state as shown. Canvas cover and travel bag.storage also part of the giveaway. I hope this goes to a good cause and can be brought to life & good use again. Pick up from central London.
