Something I have wanted to do for years is to catch the ISS crossing the Moon or Sun. An opportunity arose on Wednesday morning as I had received a prediction from CalSky that the ISS would cross the face of the Sun at around 9:35 am. I had no idea of which part of the Sun it would cross and as my field of view through the Quark is quite limited it was going to be pot luck as to whether I pointed at the correct part of the Sun. I chose to point at the only small Sunspot and wow how lucky I was !!!
Thanks Jeremy. I did try to produce a composite image using the above as background but couldn’t get it to look right. I might try again just using the video frames. That may not work because of the wobble in the atmosphere.
Great video. If you stack the frames using minimum pixel hold you should be able to get a nice still showing it moving across. I’ve only ever succesfully imaged this once on 2011 May 25 using a DSLR. Each video frame was minimum pixel stacked to get this effect.
