With considerable help from Gill Perry I’ve completed the BAA Summer Meeting videos. You can find them all here. Many thanks to the speakers who gave such an excellent set of talks.
When logged in, members can view these videos online or can download them for offline use. They should play on most mobile devices, the MP4 versions certainly play on my Android phone.

I’ve downloaded the videos and had a brief look at the talks. I look forward to viewing them in full. They are a great record of a most memorable meeting.
Many thanks to you and Gill for your hard work.

I downloaded the videos (MP4) to my Win 7 laptop and viewed them OK with Media Player, except for Lyn Smith’s talk. It gave a Player error and failed to run. Please check if you encounter the same problem. I downloaded it a couple more times, to no avail.
Thanks,
Alex.

I’ve just downloaded the MP4 of Lyn’s talk and it plays OK for me (Windows Media Player under Win 7/64). The downloaded filesize is 65,875,977 bytes. It is possible that it is stuck in a cache somewhere so that your repeated attempts to download it keep giving you the same result. Hopefully time will fix this if you are patient!

Thanks for that advice. It’s probably the largest of the individual videos.
Will try again this evening.
Clear skies,
Alex.

I have no audio on any of the video’s whilst watching online – Windows 8 using Chrome. If I try IE I get logged out each time I select a video.

23 July 2014 at 5:27 pm #576623Jeremy ShearsParticipantI can watch all the videos online with good sound – Chrome, Vista
Great meeting, by the way. I was unable to attend this one, so have really appreciated the facility to be able to catch up via the videos.
Go well!

25 July 2014 at 8:00 am #576626Nick JamesParticipantGary, Can you download one of the MP4 movies and then just play it in Windows Media Player on your Win 8 machine. The coding of these videos is nothing special and they should play on any modern system, even Windows 8. If still no joy with WMP then contact me offline and we can try to investigate further.
25 July 2014 at 9:52 am #576627Gary PoynerParticipantOK Nick. I’ll give it a try and contact you offline.
I still had a few issues with Win7 whilst streaming. The video(s) would stop every 10 minutes, and I had to click to continue! Didn’t stop me enjoying John Mason and David Boyds presentations though. Hope to watch the rest over the weekend. Good stuff.

Living in Australia I rarely get to BAA meetings and to my regret could not make this one. Being able to watch these videos lets me catch up with what I missed and to feel something of the atmosphere of this great meeting. Great to hear so many familiar voices. Loved the various attempts to speak like the ultimately inimitable Patrick!
Just for the record I had a spot of bother downloading the videos on a Windows computer, possibly because it was on our school network, but all came good on my MacBook Pro.
Thanks again Nick
John
