Dear fellow members
As you will be aware there is currently a ballot by the Bank of England to decide who should be on the new £50 note
and it has been stated that it should be a scientist.
clearly Stephen Hawking will be a popular choice but i have submitted the following nomination and i would suggest that other
BAA members might also like to support one of our own .
“Alice Grace Cook (18/02/1877-27/05/1958) who was an astronomer who headed the BAA’s Meteor Section and discovered the
the Nova V603 Aquilae in 1918.”
