ParticipantHi James,
I realise this is a bit late but I also use a Lunt LS50THa B600 scope and from the image you posted I would suggest it is not the illumination that is the issue but the tuning which is uneven especially on the left hand side of the image. The Lunt is very sensitive to orthogonality (squareness) of the camera sensor.
I even find using the supplied nosepiece holder with a standard 1.25″ nosepiece adaptor does not provide a flat field (tightening the clamping screws can throw the camera off) therefore I connect the camera directly to the diagonal as per the attached image, this provides the squarest connection. Connecting in this manner requires the diagonal to be pulled out of the scope around 13mm to achieve focus, I 3D printed a spacer to allow this distance to be achieved and it ensures the diagonal is also clamped squarely to the scope.
My sweet spot is not exactly central, it’s slightly offset to one side so worth hunting around to find the position where illumination is most even.
Just some observations from my use of this scope which I hope helps, I never take flat fields or flatten the image in software, I find my scope is a superb instrument and hope you can work out your issues.
Regards,
Brendan.-
