I am a relative new comer to the BAA, but I have been a member of the AAVSO and the TA for about 10 years. Living in Preston, the skies could be better, but they are reasonable enough to let me observe from home where I carry out visual observations of variable stars (mostly LPVs) and the imaging of brighter comets. I use a variety of telescopes from a 60mm refractor up to a C8 Edge SCT but, thanks to the notoriously damp Lancashire climate, I don’t get to observe as much as I’d like!
