I've been interested in astronomy for most of my life. I enjoy visually observing a whole range of targets from the Moon and Planets to Deep Sky objects. Though my passion lies in understanding stars using spectroscopy and the monitoring of variable stars. I have also a an eclipse chaser, having been lucky enough to see 4 total solar eclipses. I perform voluntary roles in the BAA as the Database Secretary for the Variable Star Section, and the Database Manager for the BAA Spectroscopy Database. I have studied Astronomy and Physics as an undergraduate in my early life. I then studied an OU Mathematics degree at weekends and finally a part-time PhD at the University of Exeter. I am now a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Astrophysics at Exeter, conducting observational research into young stars and star formation.
