I first became interested in the stars at the tender age of eight. In my teens i joined the JAS (SPA), observing the Sun by projection, and timing lunar occultations with a stopwatch. I joined the BAA in 1974. Were upon i started visual observation of asteroidal occultations. The European Asteroidal Occultation Network (EAON) based in Belgium provided detailed predictions. My first successful video observation was in in 2010 from my Parents drive way. In recent years, the predictions for asteroid occultations have improved. So much so, i am now able to set up a mobile instrument with a high degree of certainty the observation may be successful.
