Pretty scary Alun.
Lyn SmithParticipantThe BAA Solar Section publishes Section members’ observations in a monthly Section newsletter, the main report of which also appears in each edition of the BAA Journal. Monthly figures are also sent by the Section Director to the Royal Observatory in Belgium that incorporates SILSO (Sunspot Index & Long-term Solar Observations), the world data centre for the protection, preservation and dissemination of the International Sunspot Number. Members observations in white light, H-alpha and Calcium K-line are archived and stored in digital format for posterity.
Lyn SmithParticipantHi JR
drop me an email to solar@britastro.org and I can send you info about solar imaging, and/or put you in touch with an experienced solar imager. Let me know what advice you need.
Lyn SmithParticipantWecome to the BAA Ernest.
Lyn SmithParticipantThat’s great that you are also imaging in H-alpha and I look forward to receiving your work. Please send each image as it is processed rather than all at the end of the month. Please save in jpeg format and keep each file to under 1 Mb in size. When you save the file name can you please include your initials, the date and time UT that the image was taken for example kt_20170202_1511 This helps to identify your work in the Section archive. Thanks!
Lyn SmithParticipantHi Kevin
Welcome to the BAA and to the BAA Solar Section. Just drop me an email to solar@britastro.org so I have your email address and I can send you any information you require and H-alpha report forms. I would welcome your H-alpha observations. What instrument(s) are you using?
Lyn SmithParticipantNow for today’s H-alpha image.
Lyn SmithParticipantFor some reason the image didn’t post. Trying again!
Lyn SmithParticipantToday’s solalr image from the SOHO/ESA site shows new sunspot groups around the north-east lime and also a nice prominence hearth on the H-alpha image.
