I managed to get a snap on Friday in between the clouds, buffetting wind and my neighbours bonfire. Seeing wasn’t particularly good either.

An observer in the US reports capturing an impact on Jupiter by video on 7th Aug 2019. The report has been posted on sciencealert. The page can be found at https://www.sciencealert.com/rare-and-breathtaking-video-of-a-meteor-exploding-on-jupiter
I wonder if such events are all that rare. Is there any program that constantly monitors for such events?

    Hello John,
Many thanks for providing your experience with the Quark. I have taken the plunge and am trying to get to grips with it. So far I have had limited success getting it “in tune” but will keep persevering. The extra back focus required on my WO Zenithstar 80 means I am having to use a right-angle eyepiece holder which I’m not sure is helping even though Daystar show it can be used that way. I plan to get a longer extension tube so that I can have it straight through.

    Regards
    Paul
