Steve BrownParticipant
I did a couple of hours of visual observing on 16-17 November and didn’t see any Leonids at all. I think the Moon was just too bright. My camera did catch a faint one on video though: https://youtu.be/61K5SI3rj08
Steve BrownParticipantGreat timelapse videos there! It was such a good display that I didn’t know where to point my cameras at times. In the end I managed to capture some good sequences. I’ve put the best ones together into a video: https://youtu.be/syR_IxxiCak
Steve BrownParticipantFor 2024, I had a below average number of clear nights for January. For February, March and April the results have been about average. However, for partially cloudy nights, February and March were below average. It feels like there have been more cloudy nights recently though, with last year being very poor. I missed the peak of the Perseids due to cloud, which was pretty annoying! My records show that last year I had the lowest number of clear nights and the highest number of totally cloudy nights since I started noting my sky conditions back in 2018. The average being 96 clear nights per year from North Yorkshire. In 2023 this was only 78. Hopefully this year will be better.
Steve BrownParticipantI took a DSLR shot of T CrB on 13 April 2024, to enable me to compare it to a subsequent eruption image (hopefully). I’ve posted it here and in the Gallery.

Steve BrownParticipantI might have a go for this tonight as it seems to be clear. I’m not really set up for galaxy imaging and M101 is pretty high, so my alt-az may struggle. I’ll try though!
Steve BrownParticipantI managed to get to the same site on the moors and get a shot of the brighter nova. Unfortunately, it was very windy so my capture was not as good as the previous one. You can see how much brighter it is though!
Steve BrownParticipantI last viewed the nova in mid-April so I’m keen to get out to see it after the increase in brightness. Hopefully tonight will stay clear! This shot is from 12 April.
