29P coma expansion
About this image
This is a sequence of seven nights showing the expansion of 29P's coma. Each image has been processed in the same way (sky background removal then log stretch) so they are directly comparable. The images are centred on the ephemeris position of the comet. As the coma expands its surface brightness fades but, since there is the same amount of material occupying a larger volume the overall magnitude stays around the same.
