Thank you to all those responsible for recording the talks at the Elgin meeting. We were unable to attend so it is good to be able to participate retrospectively in what looks to have been an excellent meeting.

    Thank you Pauline.
I’ve been in discussions with UHI Moray for a few weeks as to how it might be done, and the day before we didn’t think it would be possible. They were able to record a presentation but there was no sound as that was going through a different system to the room speakers. Lorna Leil found a last minute solution and then Helen Williamson made the recordings on the day, both from UHI Moray. While the solution wasn’t found in time for John Mason’s talk on Friday evening, it allowed all of Saturday to be recorded.

Thanks for posting the videos. It was a great meeting, very enjoyable and well attended. My thanks to everyone involved, particularly Hazel, the Sigma crew and Lorna and Helen at UHIM.

After giving my talk on monitoring the sky with video cameras I headed north to install one of these low-cost cameras at Denis Buczynski’s observatory at Portmahomack. This has a fantastic northern horizon and the camera is intended to capture NLC and aurora. A couple of live clips from last night show a very nice, active aurora with the foreground illuminated by moonlight:

A still made from stacking 128 video frames is attached. It shows how well these little cameras work.
