J B Sidgwick

I’ve got a couple of books by JB Sidgwick, “Observational Astronomy for Amateurs” and “Astronomy for Nightwatchers”, but am interested in learning more about the author.   I’ve found this lone obituary online, so curious if anyone else has any information or biography?  I’ve not yet searched the BAA archive DVDs, but as I could find no obituary on the BAA website I’m assuming he is a bit of an enigma.

harvard edu also gives reference to the BAA Journal:  1986 96, 5 P299 by Peter Johnson, so should be on the BAA archive DVD.

Apparently joined BAA in December 1940.

Found on Ancestry re visit to South Africa:

Arrived 15 February 1957 at Southampton from Durban.  Travelled on board the Arundel Castle of the Union Castle Mail Steamship Co.  Passport issued in Kenya.
