I hope it goes well. 14 October 2025 at 3:27 pm #631608 Dr Paul LeylandParticipant Dr Paul LeylandParticipantI’ll be there with a load of secondhand books for sale, so bring your money. I am often in the market for old atlases, especially editions of Norton’s not yet in my collection. Don’t know if this will influence your choice of books to bring. Paul 14 October 2025 at 3:39 pm #631609 DawsonParticipant DawsonParticipantPaul, I know you are after various editions of Norton’s which I look out for, but none so far. I’ll see what else I’ve got. James 15 October 2025 at 9:10 pm #631632 Paul G. AbelParticipant Paul G. AbelParticipantI’ll be coming along to it- looks like a good event. 16 October 2025 at 7:28 pm #631633 Dr Paul LeylandParticipant Dr Paul LeylandParticipantPaul, I know you are after various editions of Norton’s which I look out for, but none so far. I’ll see what else I’ve got. James Back when I was an undergraduate another member of OUAS had a copy of “Webbs Atlas of the Stars”. It disappeared and the erstwhile owner regretted it greatly. I have always wanted a copy of my own but they are almost unobtainable now. When they do appear on the market the prices are ridiculous — several hundred USD/EUR/GBP — and I refuse to pay that much. I own a good number of atlases, old and new, for which I have paid much less than that. If anyone has a copy of Bečvář’s Australis at a reasonable price I am also interested. His atlases are already in my possession and I have a spare copy of Eclipticalis if anyone is interested. 18 October 2025 at 12:37 pm #631640 Jeremy ShearsParticipant Jeremy ShearsParticipantOne week today! 27 October 2025 at 12:22 pm #631827 Andy WilsonKeymaster Andy WilsonKeymasterI have uploaded the meeting videos to the BAA YouTube channel. I provide links below for easy access. I divided the meeting into the 3 sessions, and in the YouTube video descriptions there are links so you can jump to each of the talks.
Unfortunately there were a few IT issues on the day so the recordings are not perfect. The first few minutes of the introduction were missed due to a recording issue, and then one of the microphones failed for the start of Paul Leyland’s talk. I have left all of Paul’s talk as you can still see the slides before I swapped his microphone.Session 1 (morning) – https://youtu.be/XIIO4Wbi6Rw

Thank you! 27 October 2025 at 6:04 pm #631837 Jeremy ShearsParticipant Jeremy ShearsParticipantA number of people have requested sight of the web resources Chris Lloyd gave in his presentation on smart scopes for VS astronomy. I have uploaded Chris’ presentation to the VSS 2025 meeting page in PDF format: https://britastro.org/event/variable-star-section-meeting-2025
